The Concours Mondial de Bruxelles is the world’s leading wine competition and it is coming to Istria in May 2023 for its 30th year.
The candidacy for hosting, which took place in several stages, was prepared by the Istrian Association of Winemakers and Winegrowers, Vinistra, in cooperation with the Istria Tourist Board. Accompanying programs, excursions and tastings were organised for the participants to get to know Istria. This was a great opportunity to explore Istria’s land. The Istrian wine route, dotted with numerous wine cellars, offers some memorable experiences and that is the reason why it was chosen for this world competition.
Their experienced wine tasters judge the competing wines with a single-minded purpose, and that is to select wines of irreproachable quality with no biases stemming from the label or an appellation’s prestige. The competition is one of the leading events of its kind in the world.
It is a great honour to Istrian winemakers and Istria as a wine region where wine is a story of passion and necessity, and an integral part of the culture of life, being regarded to hold such a competition.
The competition will bring together more than 350 evaluators in Poreč from 11th to 14th May 2023. Istria is one of our major tourist areas and the town of Poreč offers a wide range of tourist infrastructures to welcome the competition’s judges. Hosting the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles provides further proof of the region’s potential. Boasting time-honoured winemaking experience, a well-established wine culture and recent investments, Istria ranks as a credible, quality wine region.
They will evaluate about ten thousand samples from fifty countries.
