Croatia and Istria can offer lots of fantastic vacation opportunities. In addition to the beautiful sea and cultural heritage that attracts many to the coast, Istria offers a special gastro-oenological experience. One of the motives of Istria is quality wine, which is why all visitors are always recommended to roam through Istrian wineries. In addition to excellent wine, they also provide an unforgettable experience.
However, if one of the main reasons for visiting Istria is wine tasting, do not miss the international wine exhibition Vinistra. This is a formal exhibition that will be held in Poreč from 6th to 8th of May and is attended by several hundred producers of the best wines from this region. Vinistra has over 27 years of history, being one of the most prestigious events in Croatia.
Vinistra is an extremely well-attended festival that is not missed by international guests, but also by expert juries from Poland, Hungary, Austria, and other countries. All these are significant markets where Istrian wine is established. Every year, the world-renowned international exhibition of wine and equipment for viticulture and winemaking confirms its importance with growing interest. During the three days of the exhibition, wine lovers will have the opportunity to taste and explore the wine world of Istria and other guest exhibitors.
This year will be exceptional for all visitors because they will have the opportunity to find out which is the best Malvasia in the world. The award ceremony will be held within the international competition World of Malvasia. This enological event is the result of global trends in the production and consumption of wines produced from indigenous wine varieties that have a strong connection with the territory in which they thrive, and are produced in limited quantities. The International Malvasia World Competition will be held on April 6th and 7th at the Parentium Plava Laguna Hotel in Poreč. One of the novelties from last year is the Vinistra label, which is granted to winning wines, and which helps vine makers for good reputation and significance.
This large exhibition and competition are preceded by En primeur, an event that takes place in Zagreb at the beginning of March, and at which young Malvasia, Žlahtina, and other indigenous varieties are tested for the first time. This year, more than 50 Istrian winemakers are coming to the Esplanade Hotel in Zagreb, both well-known names and new hopes. The best young wines will be selected at the tasting.
Do not miss Vinistra, it can be a great addition to your stay in Istria.
