Teranino is a liqueur produced in Istria and it’s made from the red wine grape variety called Teran, which is native to the region. Teran grapes are macerated and infused with a mixture of herbs, spices, and sweeteners to create the distinct flavor of Teranino.
The liqueur has a deep red color and a rich, fruity taste with hints of berries and a slightly bitter finish. It is often served as a digestif or an aperitif and can be enjoyed on its own or used as an ingredient in cocktails and desserts. We recommend teranino from the Rossi family winery, which won gold at the European competition The EUROPE Wine & Spirits TROPHY in Luxembourg and confirmed high criteria on a global level. When someone for five generations has been working under the motto “quantity is not important, but quality”, it is not surprising that he sets the criteria on the market. They started their story in 1885 with winemaking, and today they produce multiple award-winning premium wines, traditional Istrian brandies, premium craft liqueurs and their own gin.
In addition to teranino from the Rossi family, we also recommend Aura Teranino. Their teranino is the first on the Croatian market since 2006. It has many lovers and fans behind it who combine it with various dishes and it can also be used to make special cocktails that will give an excellent note of Teran grape and raise the drink to a new level.
Teranino is highly regarded in the Istrian region and is considered a traditional and unique beverage that showcases the local winemaking heritage. It is popular among locals and tourists alike, providing a taste of the Istrian terroir and sweet culture.
The characteristic that dominates through Teranino is the tenderness and sophistication that simply leave a special emotion to remember. When visiting Istria, it would be a missed opportunity not to indulge in this region’s traditional liqueur, which is perfect for toasting or enjoying as a delightful after-dinner drink.
