For the first time, Pula is going to be the host of the special sailing spectacle “Full moon regatta” organized by the Sailing Club Delfin. On March 18th, many lovers of the sea, wind, and sailing will arrive in this beautiful Istrian town with the same goal. The start of the race will be on the port of Pula and will take the crews around Susak island, to the finish line in Cres. The regatta will start with the sunset and sail under the moonlight and is around 80 nmi long.
Although it is the first Full moon regatta, the organizers are already expecting international guests. The Full Moon cruiser regatta is ridden/noted according to the following measurements: ORC, IRC, OPEN (racer, cruising, vintage – over 35 years old), duo, and crew. In case of bad weather or other difficulties, the organizers are considering several options such as switching the date of the regatta, changing the route, or later start of the race.
In addition to the regatta itself, an accompanying program is organized in which the local community will be involved. This event, the organizers hope, will eventually become one of the motives of Istria. The schedule will include a cultural-artistic and entertaining program, but also a creative-artistic challenge for enthusiasts of the sea and sailing. The challenge “Pula under sail by JK Delfin” invites everyone who is fascinated by sails, the sea, and the moon to create their works of art that could become a souvenir. The winning art could become one of the awards for sailors in the year 2023. The organizers want to connect the love of the sea and sailing with creativity, tradition, and the development of the local community.
Registrations for the Full Moon Regatta are possible until the 17th of March on this link.
